Who We Are

History The Louisiana Housing Lab (LHL) was established in 2017 as a way to bridge the work being done inside the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s School of Architecture and Design with real change in the larger community. The LHL was initiated by professor Corey Saft and developed under the mentorship of Jack Tolson. The LHL received its first funding award in 2018. Mission To strengthen communities through the development of affordable housing, thoughtful neighborhood design, and hands-on educational opportunities. Vision To demonstrate how small-scale housing development, community partnership and architectural education as outreach can create vibrant mixed-income neighborhoods and expand opportunities for all.
